  2. Objectives of this Session • To present the project • To present the structure of the team • To highlight the working relationships between OMSAR and the team • To outline the deliverables of the project

  3. The Project • OMSAR contracted CNSI in June 2002 • The Project was funded by the Arab Fund for Social and Economic Development • Work proceeded throughout the next 6 months • It was completed and revised by Spring 2003

  6. The Deliverables of the Project • Deliverable 1 • Analysis of the Current Situation • Deliverable 2 • The Standards and Guidelines • 13 documents (Or segments) • Deliverable 3 • The Global Recommendations Document • Deliverable 4 • Recommendations for a Legal Framework for Standardization

Deliverable 1: Analysis of the Current Situation • Analyzed the situation addressing Standards and Guidelines • OMSAR conducted a Survey of all Ministries and Agencies: • Purpose: to prepare an inventory of ICT resources • This was augmented by a Survey from Team CNSI: • Purpose: to assess current and planned work on standardization

Deliverable 2: The Standards and Guidelines • OMSAR had initially requested 9 functional areas to be addressed • OMSAR and CNSI reworked these into 13 segments • The functional areas covered: • Standards and Guidelines related to ICT Products • Standards and Guidelines related to ICT Practices

  9. The 13 Standards and Guidelines Areas or Segments • The structure of the segments will be presented in a later presentation • There will also be demonstrations of several of the above

It is hoped that OMSAR will extend work onStandards and Guidelines in the following areas: • Project Management • ICT Human Resources • Structure and Organization of ICT Units • Additional new technologies (Mostly web based) • Procurement of ICT products and services • Software Development Processes

  11. Deliverable 3: The Global Policy Document • This was based on the findings of the 13 Segments • It charted global policies that OMSAR / CNSI are proposing to the Government • The document also presented a proposed implementation plan • Both plan and recommendations will be presented later on

  12. Deliverable 4: Recommendations for a Legal Framework • Legal experts identified existing laws and regulations that related to Standards and Guidelines • They analyzed requirements and presented recommendations • They identified possible conflicts with existing laws

  13. Akram Najjar will now present “The Structure of the Project” And the “Proposed Implementation Plan”
