Urban culture • The street is an urban phenomenon mainly and children/youth have appropriated it in many instances • Post-colonial countries: hopes and frustrations • Economic crisis: unemployment of parents and youth • Reproduction of street children • Crumbling of the traditional system and of generational relationships • Rebellion: youth confronts the state authority
