What we do • Design or develop nuclear equipment, like reactor cores, radiation shielding, and other instruments • Look after activities of operational nuclear power plants to make sure that they meet safety standards • Take corrective actions or order plant shutdowns in emergencies • Examine nuclear accidents and gather data that can be used to design preventive measures

  3. Work Environment • Typically work in offices • Work setting varies depending on the industry they are working in • Some work in Power plants

  4. Education and training • Bachelors Degree is required • Math courses need to be taken such as trigonometry, and calculus • Science courses such as biology, chemistry, and physics. • 8 months of training on a felid is assigned before actually taking part in a power plant. • Many exams must be passed in order to be successful in this career

  5. Hours of Work • 40 hours a week is a typical week for a nuclear engineer • Most engineers work full time or even over time to earn more money
