Have you ever been abandoned or were lost? AND The sun was extremely hot and somewhat blinding?
THE PROBLEM • The problem is finding a way to help stranded or abandoned people in a certain location find their way to safety. • This affects people with possible disabilities or people who gets lost in general • The quality of life can be enhanced if this problem is solved by allowing people a view of their geological location in case of an emergency
POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS • Place a GPS in a functional wrist watch. When the GPS is activated then it will appear as a 3D image. • Place a GPS system in sunglasses. When activated on the side of the lens, the image of the person’s geological point will appear through the lens. • Place a GPS in a person’s ring. The GPS would be in the cut or diamond area of the ring and the map of the person’s location would pop up in a 3D image
THE FINAL SOLUTION • Place a GPS in sunglasses in case a person is unknown of their location. • By pressing a button on the side of the arms of the glasses you will activate the GPS system in the glasses
WHAT IS A GPS? • Global Positioning System (GPS) is a U.S. space-based radio navigation system that provides reliable positioning, navigation, and timing services to civilian users on a continuous worldwide basis (gps.gov 2009) • Users with hand held GPS can accurately locate where they (gps.gov 2009) • Easily navigate to where they want to go, whether walking, driving, flying, or boating. (gps.gov 2009) • GPS has become a mainstay of transportation systems worldwide (gps.gov 2009)

HISTORY • GPS or the Global Positioning System was invented by the U.S. Department of Defense (D.O.D) and Ivan Getting, at the cost of twelve billion taxpayer dollars (Bellis 2009) • GPS uses satellites as reference points to calculate geographical positions, accurate to a matter of meters (Bellis 2009)
CONTINUED • The concept started in the late '60s but the first satellite wasn't launched until February 1978. • In 1989 the Magellan Corp. introduced the first hand-held GPS receiver. • In 1992 GPS was used in Operation Desert Storm. • On March 1996 the President decided to make GPS free for civilian users.
