King Christian X of Denmark • The king rode through the streets of Copenhagen unprotected • King supported and sympathized with Danish Jews during WWII • No Jews within Denmark were forced to wear the yellow star • Denmark rescued the majority of its Jews • Over 7,000 Danish Jews were smuggled to Sweden in fishing boats

  6. The Myth of the Yellow Star As most Danes know, the story of the King and the Star is a myth. Usually the story is denounced as fiction, as it is thought to have been put into circulation after the escape of the Danish Jews to Sweden in 1943.
