Question One     Some examples of cultures using triangles in art as human forms cen be found in the Americas and the Pacific.  Petroglyphs, carvings in rock made by taking off the top layer, are found with triangles for human bodies often.  Good examples are of the Native Americans' carvings on rocks in the Midwest.  Another good example is in the Hawaiian Islands where the natives drew many pictures of humans using triangles for the torsos.

  3. Question Two     The most typical shapes I found looking at recent art were triangles, squares, and circles.  Triangles seemed very evident in the mid-80s and early 90s.  The shapes, in more recent art, are just used as shapes.  I saw them mostly in abstract are, so they were painted on canvases with other shapes in groups (the abstract at the most basic level, very much like some from the 30s and 40s).  The shapes help to accomplish the purpose of abstract art, not to be what is actually happening in the world.  The artists started using abstract art when huge chances were happening in the early 20th century.  I found one very interesting piece of art that is very recent.  An acrylic polyhedron that is mad eup of triangles was "engraved" on the inside by the artist, Pia Linz.

  4. Example One     This is Van Gogh's The Church at Auvers.  Triangle A is a right isoceles triangle.  Triangle B is an equiangular equilateral triangle.  Triangle C is acute isoceles triangle.  Triangle D is equiangular equilateral triangle.

  5. Example Two     This is a Macedonian Star from the Macedonian Empire.  The top triangle is an acute isosceles trianlge.  The bottom triangle is an acute isosceles trianlge, also.

  6. Example Three This is a recent piece of origami.  All the triangles are equiangular and equilateral.

  7. Example Four     A renaissance type painting by Marcus Gheeraerts the Younger has triangles.  Triangle A an acute isosceles triangle.  Triangle B is an acute isosceles triangle.  Triangle C is an acute isosceles triangle.

  8. Example Five This is a piece of Op Art.  The triangle A is an equiangular and equilateral triangle.  The triangle B is a right isosceles triangle.  The triangle C  is a right isosceles triangle also.
