Welcome to:Your First Personal Development Planning (PDP) Process Unless you are willing to leave your life and your ambitions in the hands of others, you should make a plan that will take you where you want to go.
What is Personal Development Planning (PDP) ? PDP is a process which aims to improve your ability to understand what and how you are learning and will help you to get the most out of your student experience by helping you to take responsibility for your own learning and raising your awareness of the variety of opportunities for development.
What is Personal Development Planning (PDP) ? A structured and supported process undertaken by an individual to reflect upon their own learning, performance and / or achievement and to plan for their personal, educational and career development.
Why Participate in Personal Development Planning (PDP) ? There is mounting evidence that in the changing workplace (and higher education system), students need to develop a wide range of transferable skills, together with a personal development plan to augment their subject based degree.
Goals of a PDP: • Become more effective, independent and confident self-directed learners • Understand how you are learning and relate your learning to a wider context • Improve your general skills for study and career management • Articulate you personal goals and evaluate progress towards their achievement • Develop a positive attitude to learning throughout life.

Mentorship • Formal mentorship programs are over-rated • Find your own mentor(s) • Who are the people in your workplace who are successful and whom you admire? • What are the traits/characteristics of those people • Success is not an accident
