  1. Early Alert Advisor/Counselor Training How to respond to early alerts via the SSP database

  2. 1st STEP Notification of Early Alert • The first indication of a pending early alert is an email. • Sent from the professor (through the Student Success Plan Database-SSP) or forwarded from the Early Alert Coordinator. • Information in the email is the same as found in SSP.

  3. Student’s name, tartan id, phone number, and address Withdraw

  4. Students without an assigned advisor are distributed by the Early Alert Coordinator to the Academic Advising Center or Counseling Services depending on the reason for the notification • Faculty receive an automatic email confirming the alert was delivered to the advisor. They also have the option of sending a copy to the student.

  8. Under “View” go to “Counselor Caseload” New System

  9. 1). Click on “Pending” for Early Alert Students Laura EAL 2). Left-Click on Name for Options 3). Select “View Student Record”

  10. Insert Comments “Save” to enter your comments

  11. Yes = Contact was made and student responded by phone, email, mail or in person. No further action can be taken. No = Contact was attempted either by phone or email. No response from the student. Further action can be taken.

  12. Advisor updates faculty on the progress of the early alert via email. • The SSP system sends the email on the advisor’s behalf. • Advisor can continue to update the faculty without closing the early alert.

  13. After Clicking “Yes” or “No” • An email is automatically generated by the SSP and sent to you and the instructor detailing the results • SSP records your comments. • This early alert and any prior early alerts can be read under the Journal Tool.
