Incoming Freshmen Requirements for Admission • Complete application for admission. • Pay one-time $25.00 application fee. • Submit high school transcripts from the 6th, 7th, or 8th semester transcript showing a GPA and rank in class. • Mail or fax high school transcript in a sealed envelope to MSSU-Admissions, 3950 E Newman Road, Joplin MO 64801. • Provide ACT/SAT scores. • Investigate your financial aid options. To be admitted you must have a high school GPA of 2.25 or higher OR rank in the top 50% of your class OR have an ACT composite score of 21 or higher.

  6. Computer Information Sciences Degree • MSSU offers a B.S. in CIS with six other bachelor degree options: • Information Technology • Information Systems • Bioinformatics • Computational Mathematics • Computer Forensics • Computer Technology

  7. Mathematics Degree • MSSU offers a bachelor in science or associate of arts degree in Mathematics, and also offers Computational Math, which results in a dual major in Math and CIS. • Mathematics classes require a “C” in any prerequisite class. MSSU also uses the math section in the ACT for placement.

  8. Interesting Fact: Alumni • Dennis Weaver, famous for playing David Mann in the Steven Spielberg movie Duel, studied at Missouri Southern State University. At that time MSSU was called Joplin Junior College.

  9. Interesting Facts • Missouri Southern State University originally opened as Joplin Junior College in 1937. • President Obama has been to this college twice, once on May 29, 2011, and again on May 21, 2012.
