LMPHW Core Functions • Assessing the health impact of all policies implemented at the federal, state, and local level • Educating the public on the intersection of health and other sectors such as education, economic development, housing, public safety, transportation, and community development and planning • Assuring the provision of high quality clinical services to the underserved and those who face significant barriers to health • Fostering an environment free of environmental health risks and hazards • Ensuring adherence to community hygiene standards that decrease risk for communicable/infectious disease • Building community capacity to identify and address risks to health and well-being • Advancing community knowledge of social determinants of health and health equity • Developing and maintaining public-private partnerships to enhance the public health and healthcare infrastructure • Implementing programs and interventions that have been proven to work • Evaluating the effectiveness of public health policies, programs, and practices and making changes that are data driven
