  1. Welcome to the 4th Grade Back To School Night! Mrs. DeAngelisMrs. GriffisMrs. Vela

  2. SKYWARD • New grade reporting tool. As a parent, you can check grades at all times, second quarter! If your student is missing an assignment, we will put in a “0” for the grade to alert you that it is missing. The teacher and parent can send messages through the system back and forth. We will send whole class reminders and newsletters through Skyward. You will receive information on how to sign up for the system. There will be no paper report cards but you will receive a paper progress report for 1st Qtr. midterms only. Computers will be available in the office to check report cards if needed. • Sign up at Fall Conferences. • Grading Scale: • 90%-100% A • 80%-89% B • 70%-79% C • 60%-69% D • 59& and below F IPADS • We have IPad Airs this year! We will have four carts available for student use. We will start by teaching Digital Citizenship, which includes SAFETY. We will then move to IPad basics, and finally to a week long project. • Students will receive their own IPads next school year.

HOMEWORK • Students in 4th grade should have no more than 40 minutes of homework per night.  Your child might bring home: • 5 minutes of Math:  a Weekly Review Sheet (5 problems per night) and review multiplication facts • 20 minutes of Reading:   reading from a chapter book • 5 minutes of spelling:  Practice a few words from the list each night.  Study the letter patterns emphasized that week.  • 10 minutes of corrections:  Students should look at graded work and make corrections on some papers.  Papers that should be corrected are the ones where many careless mistakes were made, or the ones where more practice would be beneficial.  Every paper and every mistake do not need to be fixed! • When your child is sick, time for make-up work will likely exceed the 40 minutes of normal evening work.  This work is expected to be completed and returned. • Work Corrections:  When graded work is returned, your student may correct mistakes and return the assignment for a better grade.  Corrections on homework are worth full credit.  Corrections on tests are worth half credit.  This will help your student learn from mistakes, and to realize that a big part of earning good grades includes having a strong work ethic.
