  2. Causes of Aids • AIDs (acquired immunodefiency syndrome) is the second stage of HIV. It is caused and then spread through contact with blood, semen, vaginal fluid, and breast milk.

  3. Symptoms • Tiredness, night sweats, weight loss, diarrhea, blurred vision, white spots on the tongue or mouth(leukoplakia), dry coughs, shortness of breath, fevers, swollen glands, drastic weakness of the immune system, and increased susceptibility to diseases such as tuberculosis, and pneumonia.

  4. Prevention • Currently there is no vaccine to prevent AIDs or HIV, so it is important to be cautious. It can spread through contact with blood, semen, vaginal fluid, or breast milk. If the mother of a child knows she has HIV/AIDs, then she should not breast feed her child or he/she will contract the disease. Have protected sex and avoid any contact with someone else’s blood. Don’t share syringes.

  5. Treatment • Besides experimental drugs, the only treatment that has proven to be effective is the antiretroviral drugs (ARVs) and the highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART or ART). • These treatments don’t cure HIV/AIDS they simply help the patient’s immune system become stronger.

  6. Cures • There is no cure for AIDs; however there are treatments and medication that has proven to be effective in fighting HIV so don’t get AIDs.

  7. Famous People with AIDs Magic Johnson Freddy Mercury
