  2. Open your story in Word. Select the text.

  3. Open Notepad. Paste the text into Notepad.

  4. Log in to Lofter.

  5. Open the form for posting text.

  6. Copy the text from Notepad into the Lofter form. Cut and paste the headline into the title part of the form.

  7. Insert a photo at the very top of the post.

  8. Boldface the byline.

  9. Go through the story and add: • Links • Other photos/images • Boldface keywords.

  10. Other formatting?

  11. See how Lofter put extraspacing before and after each single and double quote marks?

  12. Go through the story and manually replace all of the quote marks.

  13. Go to our class website. Find the link to your Excel file. Copy that link to your clipboard.

  14. Back in Lofter, go to the bottom of your story and write: • Here is the data we used in this story. • Highlight "data we used in this story," and link your Excel file to those words. • Make that entire sentence bold.

  15. Link your Excel file to words in the body of your story, too.

  16. Add two or three tags -- for the topic and the data source.

  17. Check out the HTML. It should look like this.

  18. When you have the weird spacing in the quotes …

  19. … it’s because the HTML looks like this:

  20. Finally, post your story.
