  1. EARTH By: Ryanne Davidson, Morgan Simkins, and Ally Ott

  2. Earths Diameter and Color Earths diameter- 12,756 km Radius- 6,371 km Color- Blue, Green, White

  3. Rotation and Revolution Earths Rotation- 23 hours, 56 minutes, and 4.1 seconds. (1 Day) Earths Revolution- 365 days

  4. Surface Features Surface Features- composed of rigid plates. The plates have three main motions, and each one creates a different surface feature. When two different plates collide, one can be forced under the other causing ocean trenches, volcanic islands, and mountain ranges. 2) When two plates shift away from each other, rifts occur. In the ocean, sea floor spreading occurs, and on land rift valleys are formed. 3) When two plates slide past each other, there are faults. Features such as volcanoes and earthquakes occur mostly along the plate boundaries.

  5. Density and Gravity Density- 5.515 g/cm3 Surface Gravity- 9.8 m/s2

  6. Atmosphere, Surface, Interior Composition Atmosphere Composition- 78% nitrogen 21% oxygen 1% other. Surface Composition- Water and Rock. Interior Composition- iron, oxygen, silicates.

  7. Magnetic Fields and Earth’s Moon. Magnetic Field- It extends from Earth’s interior out. Earth’s magnetic field is similar to a bar magnet. Most of Earth's magnetic field (about 90%) occurs below the surface. Earths Moon- 27% the size of Earth; Earth only has one moon. Consists of oxygen, silicon, and magnesium. It’s mostly rock.

  8. What’s Unique about Earth Earth is the only planet we know of that holds life and water. Earth is the only planet circling our sun on which life as we know it exists. Like no other planet, ours is covered with vegetation, 5 oceans containing over a million islands, streams and rivers, 7 continents, mountains, ice caps, and deserts.
