The Network Manager Eurocontrol nominated SES network manager function in July 2011 Main role is to: • optimise Aviation Network’s performance; • ensure that European ATM meets the performance targets set by EC for SES • enable and deliver added operational performance (capacity, delay reduction, environment, flight efficiency, minimum emissions, ops safety, cost-effectiveness) to European operations through defined functions and services

Network Manager 2 1/2 years on • Learnt to walk, starting to run • ATM partner to ANSPs (and eventually FABs), airports, civil & military airspace users • All about added value and added performance of pan-European network • A success story of SES, our functions are being audited, reviewed and updated • Feedback of the operational stakeholders important to ensure that we remain relevant to you (customer survey results available)

Network Manager - in the future! • More influence on network issues, even if they have local impacts • Counterpart to ANSPs in delivering best possible network performance • Network services, today overseen by EASA, tomorrow certified by EASA • Clarity of role vis a vis future deployment manager • Review governance and financing

Looking ahead 2015-2019 • Preparation for next 5-year period has started • We will have accountability for network wide delay and flight efficiency targets • We aim to contribute added value to pan-European performance of 10% delay reduction and 10% flight efficiency improvement • We have a network strategy, we have a strategic investment plan, we plan for improvements to deliver NM functions, we are part of an overall network operations plan which includes all ACCs and nearly 50 airports

6. New OPS Concepts for European Network • Free route airspace • 4D trajectory knowledge and sharing • Different way to do flow management, target time over (TTO), rather than departure slots • Requiring extensive data sharing and underpinned by robust ops safety assurance

Network concept of operations 2020 Concept of operations needed to: • Link 1st set of SESAR deliverables which are in the first Pilot Common Project • Ensure different ATM functionalities improvements are compatible • Plan investment • Ensure coordination between local, regional and network developments

Network Strategy Plan • Formalised road map for network evolution • Vision, strategic objectives, high level plan of the main actions and projects which provide the perfomance needed for SES performance framework • Consistent with European ATM Master Plan • To be agreed at NMB and SSC and adopted by EC • Allows project structure to be set up to drive for concrete implementation
