Project MORE

Project MORE utilizes Response to Intervention (RtI) to identify and address reading difficulties early. Key components include frequent assessments, immediate instructional responses, and the application of effective reading strategies. By leveraging resources like RAZ and explicit instruction, we strive to close achievement gaps, particularly for struggling and ELL students.

Importance of Vocabulary • Vocabulary gap between struggling readers and proficient readers grows each year. • After primary grades, the achievement gap between socio-economic groups is a language gap. • For ELL the achievement gap is primarily a vocabulary gap. • To close the gap, vocab instruction must be accelerated with direct intentional instruction. • Reading is best source of vocab acquisition
