What was the Pullman Strike? • In the 1894, in response to low wages and high rents, Eugene Debs called for a strike against Pullman Trains. • In opposition to the strikers, Pullman sent in strikebreakers and President Grover Cleveland sent in troops to break up the strike. • Most of the strikers were fired and Eugene Debs went to jail
