  2. Background information Elizabeth was born on. July 29, 1936. She grewup inSalisbury, North Carolina. She married Robert Dole , but his nickname is Bob Dole. They married in Kansas (“Elizabeth Dole Biography”1). He had been married before Elizabeth. • Bob and his other wife also had one daughter. Elizabeth and Bob Dole were known as Washington’s power couple. In • March 1996, which was an election year, Bob Dole tried to rob his own wife! They started to sell corn to raise money for the Red Cross Company but didn’t have a very high price. • Then another company donated 1millon dollars to the Red Cross company .They paid her only 20,000 plus expenses for a speech . They told everyone they were going to sell Elizabeth’s earrings but it was a lie. They ended up keeping • 147,663 of the earrings (“Skelton Closet”4).

  3. Accomplishments • President Ronald Reagan wanted Elizabeth to be his • Secretary . She was the first woman in America to take that position. Elizabeth went to Duke University. That’s when she got involved in government work. She was named National Honor’s society. • Leader of Duke University (“Skelton Closet 2.”) Elizabeth went to Harvard University and attended law school and graduated. She went to England and while she was there was a big opening in Alaska so she convinced her parents to let her go to Alaska (“Biography Elizabeth Dole 3.”) When Elizabeth was on her way New Jersey a drunk driver hit the back of her car. Elizabeth was hurt but still went to New Jersey to give her speech (“Biography Elizabeth Dole 4”). Later on Elizabeth was in the hospital with a back injury for one whole month (“Skelton Closet 6”). A gentleman from Federal Trade Commission come to the hospital and gave the papers to her to sign for her to work there (Skelton closet 8”).

  4. Conclusion • Elizabeth Dole is still alive and hopes to be president some day. I admire her for still leading our country and working at the Red Cross Company.
