  3. 1.Understanding SARS Many people take the wrong attitude to SARS acknowledging it to be airborne infection while it's droplet infection.SARS is an atypical pneumonia caused by corona virus spreading through droplet transmission when in direct contact with the virus. Being a contagious disease, SARS broke out in China, Hong Kong, Singapore and other areas involved. Unfortunately, it spread rapidly invading Taiwan, which led to big conniption. It did harm Taiwan in many respects. As teenagers, we show our exploration and viewpoint to it as follows.

  7. Spreading 4/10-5/8 Everyone was asked to have their temperatures taken at the airport, if it was above 37.5 and that passenger had been to an epidemic zone, quarantine would immediately follow.(April 10)

  8. Peak 5/9-5/16 Many prestigious hospitals, such as the hospital at National Taiwan University, the hospital at Kaohsiung Medical University shut down their emergency rooms. Why: They were overwhelmed with patients coming from ER seeking symptoms for fever.

  9. End 5/17-7/5 The 10-day national temperature-checking campaign. (Started on June 1, 2003)

  10. Damage from SARS • The impact of SARS outbreak in Taiwan: • Society-It really harmed normal human contact. • Economy-SARS affected our trade-behavior as well as economic system.

  11. Questionnaire and Analysis

  12. Say Goodbye to SARS The World Health Organization removed Taiwan from the organization's list of areas affected by severe acute respiratory syndrome on July 5. However, we should not ease our alert. We should continue global vigilance for SARS in the foreseeable future, because the world is not yet SARS-free. And we shall continuously take SARS prevention measures. –But how? Promote the family physician system Implement safe epidemic prevention measures Enhance hospital infection controls and the surveillance of newly emerging diseases. Strengthen the promotion of personal hygiene habits, making body temperature measurements, frequent hand washing, a balanced diet and more exercise part of the daily routine. WHO claimed that SARS possible reoccur in winter,so we're supposed to have an eye on it!
