Relation with Cisco • In May 2005 a frame work agreement was signed between Paltel and Cisco. • As a result of this agreement Paltel signed with Cisco through their representative in Palestine Safad a contract for upgrading the IP network to enable more BB services and to be the basis for NGN services in the future.
IP network • The new network will be based on GSR 12000 routers with high capacity. • Paltel and Cisco are working on a plan for migration to NGN. • The current IP network is as per the below:
BB – Palestine Data Network Phase Three: IP VPN Rollout of 19
Transmission network • The Transmission network is based on SDH technology using FO underground which was hearted a lot by the IF at last three years and needs rehabilitations at many areas, and also MW links between the main cities. • The current capacity on the backbone is STM16 and will be upgraded soon to DWDM.
Transmission network • The configuration between the new IP network and the transmission network will be based on GBE. • All the sister companies are getting the required capacities from Paltel backbone. • As plan we are targeting to get another POP in Israel for redundancy purposes.
Transmission network • As part of the new plans which is in line with NGN, we started to connect the main institutes and universities with FO. • We will put a plan to have new Gaza where will be connected FO to the end user. • FO to the curb already started in the main cities, Gaza, Ramallah and Nablus.
IP services 1- AAA infrastructure: • We currently have the Open-Source FreeRADIUS as the AAA solution running at Paltel, the infrastructure consists of two redundant servers located in the main datacenter in Nablus to support both SFI customers and ADSL customers. • We are planning to replace this system with Cisco Access Registrar/Sun I-Planet as LDAP Server, the solution will help Paltel build more stable and scalable infrastructure for both West Bank and Gaza, the solution will be clustered to achieve the highest level of redundancy.
IP services • Building such system will help Paltel and its partners to sell IP Services and Value Added Services with proper authentication, authorization and accounting “AAA”. • 3- Web hosting Infrastructure. • 4- This project will help Paltel localize the internet traffic and hence will save Paltel considerably in international transit. • 5- This project will be based on wholesale to be sold to ISPs, ASPs, and web design firms to sell for their customers.
IP services • It will be based completely on Open Source platforms and will contain the latest technologies and features of the world leading hosting firms. It will also serve email with antispam and antivirus filtering. • 7- Hosted Video Service and Video on Demand. • This is a limited release service/pilot to explore the capabilities and possibilities of our broadband network, at the initial phase it will be more of a pilot.
IP services • 8- Value Added Services. • Collection of services that will be sold as parts of bundles/packages to the virtual ISPs to sell for their customers, some services are: • a- E-fax. • b- Online storage and backup. • c- Hosted services. • d- Remote computer access. • e- Learning.
IP services • Internet Services Infrastructure upgrade. • Current infrastructure which consists of mainly two DNS Servers in the main datacenter in Nablus will be upgraded and we will have other DNS Servers in Gaza.
