Ready to go with Janison? Some starting tips
Before you start • Know what you want to do • Work out a file structure, order or grouping of pages • Type the text content out first on a word processor and paste to the web page – Janison doesn’t spell check • Have your resources ready to upload – images, power points, documents
About text • Use a simple font eg Arial 12 font as your main text • Do the formatting eg font changes, bold, underlining, coloured text in Janison, not the word processor, as many formats don’t transfer • Avoid fussy or dark backgrounds
About images • You must have these saved (eg jpg, wmf) to upload – you can’t just cut and paste from a document • Don’t have them too large – its easier to fit them on the page • Don’t have them too large a file – the more kilobytes you upload, the longer it takes for students to download
Don’t panic! When things don’t work as you think they should (and this will happen) • Check your typing of URL links – you might have missed a letter or / • Log off & then log back in • Take a break • Ask for help – Teresa, Maria, Jill
