  2. Briefly about the report Introduction Project management is a widely discussed topic today in business world. It is executed internally or externally in many companies with an intension to improve desired business state or achieve required goals. Along with that came many theories how the projects should be executed. In the report as the case study analysis the most recognized project management framework PMI Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) was applied. With an intension to find how projects can be developed more efficient, faster in Company A which represents typical Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry company. A qualitative semi-structured interview was conducted together with an analysis of scientific articles which were used during the study. The way how Company A is executing projects was introduced in analysis part. And as an outcome of the report a project execution “handbook” was created based on Company A needs, resources and surrounding environment on the foundation of PMBOK.

  3. What will I solve? (1) Problem statement As COMPANY A is one of the most admired multinational companies in the world, people in COMPANY A should also be equipped with tools which boost efficiency and performance of their day-to-day tasks and projects. The analysis will disclose gaps where the situation could be improved in project management execution. As an outcome project management handbook specifically for Company A was created. Changes should create more speed and reliability executing projects/day-to-day activities in the company.

  4. What will I solve? (2) Problem statement Main question: How projects can be developed more efficient, faster in company of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry? Delimitation: Main focus in this report is given to mentor company COMPANY A internal organizational structure. Focus on activities where projects are executed. Only COMPANY A in Baltics (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia) were considered as this region is considered to be distinct and in many cases unique from all the over locations in the world. People who are executing projects will be analyzed and evaluated.

  5. How did I acquire data? Research methods Research strategy. This report has an abductive approach. I chose it because it can answer both types of questions “What?” and “Why?”. Moreever, it answers “why” question by producing understanding rather than explanation, by providing reasons rather than causes. Research method. My method of gathering data is qualitative. My main data acquisition methods will be semi-structured interview with COMPANY A Lithuania general manager who is already working in COMPANY A for 15 years and has broad knowledge about ongoing projects, employees, everyday work and processes.

  6. Theory as a background used in the report Theory used in the report The guide to the project management body of knowledge (PMBOK Guide) Before introducing theory of PMBOK it would be interesting to investigate when it is efficient to apply PMBOK framework. The applicability of the framework was analyzed on the background research study of Australian University of Technology (Faisal & Bridge, 2007). Project Management Body of Knowledge foundation As a backbone of a project I used one of the leading and most trustable resource - Project Management Institute (PMI) “A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide)”. PMBOK is a book which presents a set of standard terminology and guidelines for project management. The Fourth Edition (2008) was recognized by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and as a standard by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers — IEEE 1490-2003 (Jones, 2007). Generally, PMBOK was published in an attempt to document and standardize generally accepted project management information and practices (IEEE, 2008). It is now recognized all around the world.
