  2. Conferring • Oral Questioning • Individually or as a group • Anecdotal Notes • Idea- Give students sticky notes of conversation items to work on… • Idea- Peer conversations during Guided Reading

  3. Listening In • Checklists • Turn to your partner/Think Pair Share • Idea- Dyad groups (1 person talks, others listen…no interruption…like math last year for example…) • Idea- Oral Language like Jill Eggleton -- knee to knee • Newsbook

  4. Observing • Misconception Check • Present students with common misconception about concept…ask them to agree or disagree and explain why. • Inside – Outside Circle • Students face each other. Each pair of facing students quiz each other with questions they’ve written. Formative Assessment - Ideas • Most of the examples I gave were ideas to use during the lesson/activity. • There are a variety of other strategies that can be used before, during, and/or after the lesson as well. • The following are ideas that I didn’t mention in the Power Point but are still goodies • Brainstorm/categorize (Paint Splash…) • KWHL • Using Activotes • ABC Summaries • Hand Signals • Jigsaw-ing • Others that I missed?
