Australian Employers’ Network on Disability • Not-for-profit organisation, resourced by its members, to advance employment opportunities for people with disability. • Assist members and clients to successfully engage with people with disability as employees, customers and as suppliers. • Current membership includes large corporations, small enterprises, State and Commonwealth Govt. and universities– 70 members employing around 800,000 staff or approximately 8% of Australian workforce.

What the Network can Offer to Employers • Facilitate an employers’ network • Develop workplace policies and procedures to build business/workplace capability in disability confidence • Assist organisations to implement the Employment Charter - a set of 10 principles based on ILO standards • Undertake a review of recruitment and selection practices • Deliver training for staff, managers and HR staff • Develop publications on relevant topics • Provide an employer’s information line • Organise events, seminars and breakfast briefings that provide knowledge and networking opportunities. • Offer mentoring and internships programs

Charter on Employment of People with Disability • EEO • Staff training on disability confidence • Working environment • Recruitment commitment • Career development • Retention, retraining and redeployment • Training and work experience • People with disability in the wider community • Involvement of people with disability • Monitoring performance

Benefits of belonging to a Network • Belonging to a network – access to other members and opportunities for exchanging ideas on best practice • Access to professional advice through the Employer Information Line • Assistance with reviewing recruitment and selection processes to identify any barriers to employment • Advice on accessible customer service practices • Assistance with developing policies and practices that build business/workplace capability in disability confidence, compliance with DDA, staff retention and RTW strategies • Access to customised tools, specialist publications and training packages

In Summary We are not creating special jobs for special people, but rather, working towards: • building disability confidence within your organisation; • removing any unintended barriers for people with disability in employment and customer service, and: • having the flexibility to respond to individual needs of all employees to attract and retain a skilled and diverse workforce.
