To capture your heart, your attention & your salvation,JESUS… • Hurried to take the initiative to do what needed to be done • There was “something that needed to be done” (Rom. 3:10, 23) • It was not man who brought this to Jesus’ attention (Rom. 5:6-10) • Jesus took the initiative • He was looking (Phil. 2:4) • He was the doer (Phil. 2:3)

To capture your heart, your attention & your salvation,JESUS… • Hurried to take the initiative to do what needed to be done • Exercised tremendous selflessness in helping others • Jesus did not act on His own behalf (Heb. 2:14-18; 4:15) • Jesus put others before Himself (Phil. 2:3-4) • Jesus’ incarnation and death are the ultimate picture of selflessness (Phil. 2:6-7; cf. Rom. 8:3; John 1:14)

To capture your heart, your attention & your salvation,JESUS… • Hurried to take the initiative to do what needed to be done • Exercised tremendous selflessness in helping others • Resolved to pay the ultimate price for the good of others • Jesus put Himself in the position to pay the price (Phil. 2:8a; cf. Rom. 6:23; 3:22-26; 1 John 4:10; Heb. 2:14-18) • Jesus paid the ultimate price through the most wretched death (Phil. 2:8; cf. Heb. 12:2; Gal. 3:13 + Matt. 27:46) • Jesus paid the price of/for OUR sins that WE might be saved (Eph 5:2, 25; Gal. 1:4; John 3:16; Heb. 9:14-28)

To capture your heart, your attention & your salvation,JESUS… • Hurried to take the initiative to do what needed to be done • Exercised tremendous selflessness in helping others • Resolved to pay the ultimate price for the good of others • Overcame adversity continually and never gave up • He endured the cross, despising the shame (Heb. 12:2) • He endured such hostility from sinners against Himself (Heb. 12:3) • He sat down at the right hand of the throne of God (Heb. 12:2)

  7. As the “Ultimate Hero” (without parallel/equal of any kind) • Jesus was victorious (Phil. 2:9)! • His followers will be victorious (1 Cor. 15:54-57; 2 Tim. 2:5; 4:8) • Jesus must be honored (Phil. 2:10-11)! • Through submission to His will • Through confession of His authority • Jesus is THE someone: • You can look up to. • Who won’t let you down. • You can trust and count on no matter what.

Jesus did everything He could to save you! • Have you submitted to Him? • Believe Jesus is God’s Son – Romans 10:9 • Repent of (turn from) your past sins – 2 Peter 3:9 • Confess your faith that Jesus Christ is Lord – Philippians 2:11 • Be immersed in water – Acts 2:38 • God will wash away your sins – Acts 22:16 • God will add you to His church – Acts 2:47 • God will write your name in heaven – Hebrews 12:23 • Faithfully obey Him until death – 1 John 1:7
