  2. Who can Participate • Entrepreneurs who have just started their venture, working professionals or final year students with just an idea would be eligible to participate • The main condition which has to be fulfilled is that the venture has to be started within Kerala

  3. Programme Structure • First Phase: The participants have to firstly register their team on the ECell website (http://ecell.iimklive.com/?page_id=1108). After registration, participants are required to send the executive summary of their business idea in the given format to basics.to.business@gmail.com. The deadline for registration and submission of executive summary is January 17, 2011. • Second Phase: A shortlist of 50 teams would be released on January 20, 2011. Those who will make it to the first cut-off would be invited to IIM Kozhikode campus for a 1 day workshop on January 30, 2010. A team of industry leaders and experts from academia will explain the nuances of starting a business and making a business plan. • Third Phase: Participants have to submit a full business plan by. 10 teams would be shortlisted and will be taken through a focused one-to-one mentoring by industry experts. • Final Phase: The final 10 teams will be invited to the IIMK campus for the final presentation in front of the elite panel comprising leading VCs and TiE members. The participants will be given 10 minutes for presentation and 15 minutes will be allocated for discussion with the jury.

Executive Summary format Please submit the executive summary of your Business Plan by 23:00 hours on 17th January, 2011.The document in pdf format needs to be sent to the email address basicstobusiness@iimk.ac.in Please mention your team name in the document containing the executive summary. Participants are required to submit an executive summary in not more than 600 words, single line spacing, size 12, font Times New Roman. Following points need to be covered: • The market your business will/is operating in (including the size and future growth) • Product/Service description • Sales plan • Investment made till now. FY 09-10 Revenue, Projected FY 2010-11 Revenue (For existing business)

  6. Rules & Regulation 1.. The initial evaluation of business ideas will be undertaken by the organizing committee comprising of ECell and TiE Kerala. The evaluation in the final round will be undertaken by TiE and Venture Capitalists. 2. Details of each stage will be uploaded on our website(www.ecell.iimklive.com) and blog (www.basics-to-business.blogspot.com). General information regarding each stage will also be published in MalayalaManorama. 3. All submissions must be made within the mentioned deadlines. No request for deadline extension shall be entertained. 4. Teams of 1-4 can be formed comprising both students and working professionals. The teams could also contain all members from different organizations and institutions. 5. Participants in a team can be from the same or different institutes or from the same or different organizations. Teams can also comprise both students and working professionals 6. A participant can form multiple teams. Teams can submit a maximum of two business plans but the plans need to be submitted separately and will be considered as separate entries.

  7. Rules & Regulation 8. The investment money is subject to fulfillment of certain criteria set by the sponsors and the organizing committee • All decisions made by jury and ECell, IIM Kozhikode shall be final and binding. No request for revaluation will be entertained by the organizers • IIM Kozhikode or any of the partners will not incur any costs for entrepreneurs participating in the “Basics to Business” program nor entertain any kind of claim. • Termination: IIM Kozhikode may at any time and for any reason: (a) disqualify a participant from “Basics to Business” if the evaluation panel, mentoring panel or Investors in their absolute discretion, determines that such disqualification is warranted; or (b) discontinue “Basics to Business” by posting a notice to that effect on the Website. • Disputes, if any, are subject to the jurisdiction in the courts of Kozhikode only.
