Line Maintenance features • Line Maintenance is responsible for conducting clearance of aircraft defects and operational disruptions, minor scheduled maintenance inspections, incorporation of service bulletins and modifications • Due to the dynamic environment within line maintenance it is important to ensure that planned work aligns with the variable work within line caused by operational disruptions and breakdowns to ensure it meets with the available resources. Maintenance planning control work per the AMS and looking at carrying out work within the line environment where aircraft downtime, resources and spares are available. Aircraft Maintenance Module

Once they have identified aircraft availability and work package requirements are met they would approach line maintenance to carry out these tasks. • These tasks will be agreed with maintenance planning engineer who resides within line maintenance were he will compile a workload plan along with the projected weekly and service checks after assessing the available workload resources for the day/night. If resources are available or can be made available the work is accepted but if resources are not available the work is rejected unless mandatory. This must be made clear by the planning department Aircraft Maintenance Module

The second step is the short term planning and this is when EAN's and MCR's are forwarded to line .As these do not go through planning they have no visibility of the scope of work and planning will review with the manager line maintenance shift and prioritize these tasks depending upon mandatory status, criticality to operational needs and resources available. This would be done 24hrs before the planned day of accomplishment and an advice sent to planning to inform them of any accepted tasks that could not be done due to prioritization of work.   5. Responsible for the overall line maintenance activity on shift basis including IFE and cabin maintenance. He will have information fed to him to ensure he has a clear picture of the resources available, fleet technical status and on going work scopes to ensure staffs are aware of what is required of them including safety and procedures compliance. He will discuss with operations NCC and Scheduling available avenues to ensure aircraft are maintained to the highest level and operational availability whenever possible without compromise to safety.   6. Line Maint Mgr Main tasks The Line Manager Tasks main tasks are: • Control fleet status • Control operational status • Control Aircraft deferred Actions • Control resource requirements • Control dispatch sensitive items Aircraft Maintenance Module

  7. LAEs, Engineers • These staff are the primary certifying staff and responsible for meeting GCAA requirements in regards to A/C ops. All these staff holds GCAA basic licenses and are type endorsed for the specific aircraft type they are assigned to. Engineers main tasks are: • Ensure all tasks assigned appropriately • Ensure all defects items are actioned appropriately • Ensure all MEL Acceptable deferred defects items are actioned or if not , must be communicated to the line control office to ensure follow up. • Ensure daily/weekly/Service checks are compliant for the return journey back to Dubai. MCC- Maint Control Center The responsibilities of Maintenance Control are :- a) Maintenance Control will be the focal point for outstation AOG's and Emirates fleet defect status. b) Handling of all aspects of AOG situation at outstations by providing technical support and co-ordination of rescue operations. c) Control of follow up and rectification of Deferred Defects at every opportunity, including the planning of spares for repair of defects at outstations when ground time is available. MCC cont’d d) Monitoring of repetitive defects to ensure that trouble shooting and rectification is done before any scheduled interruption, and to provide a structured and logical action plan for all such defects to prevent duplication of effort and unnecessary wastage of spare parts, saving time and money.   10. Tech Resource Centre functions 1. Control the receipt and distribution of technical doc using an e-database with entry fields such as Vendor Name & PN, Description, ATA No., Location, Revision No., Revision Date, Dispatch Date and Incorporation Date to ensure all aircraft, vendor, regulatory and in-house publications are at the latest revision status. A back-up copy of the database is generated automatically on the server. 2. Issue All Operators Telexes (AOT), Airworthiness Directives (AD), Service Bulletins (SB), Service Information Letters (SIL) to Engineering Technical Services using the in-house electronic systems.   11. TRC functions cont’d 3. Liaise with Section Heads for any publications requirement and initiate publications request to the Procurement Section. Liaise with Procurement and external suppliers to ensure that all documentation supplies such as binders, tabs, printed manuals are available. 4. Liaise with manufacturer/vendor suppliers to ensure all relevant publications including Service Bulletins and Component Maintenance Manuals, are received and are current and complete. TRC does periodic checks (every 6 months) against current manufacturer/vendor indexes and also directly with manufacturers/vendors to ensure all CMM supporting Engineering workshops capability are current.   12. TRC functions cont’d 5. Liaise with vendors/manufacturers and internal Depts on any discrepancies found in publications and raised for corrective action. 6. Carry out a periodic view on subscriptions due, to ensure revision services are maintained. 7. The publications and revisions on physical media are processed for distribution and incorporation within one month from the date of receipt. The digital maintenance documentation received by TRC is controlled and published within 14 days. The obsolete publications in TRC holding are destroyed. Aircraft Maintenance Module

  13. TRC functions cont’d 8. Maintain the TRC environment, equipment, and pubs to a high industry standard at all times. 9. Maintain the on-board aircraft library updated with the latest revisions of Engineering and Flight Operation documentation within 10 days update timeframe. 10. Ensure the Flight Operation documentation is distributed to the flight crew in a timely manner. 11. Assist the Flight Training department with Flight Operation documentation requirements for flight crew on training courses. Aircraft Maintenance Module

Prepare Airbus and Boeing aircraft maintenance consultation database using Airbus ADOC software and Standard Generalized Markup data based on the instructions from ADOC user manuals, installation manuals, release notes and readme files received with every version of the software. Perform functional testing of digital maintenance applications 13. Work together with Engineering Training department in order to provide users with required information related to use of electronic technical data. 14. Manuals received from manufacturer/vendors need to comply with applicable technical data standards (e.g. ATA 2200). Internally produced manuals need to include Record of • Revisions, Revision Highlights, List of Effective pages. Aircraft Maintenance Module
