  3. Research Framework Initiating Inquiry Gathering Information Deepening Understanding Finalizing Inquiry Developing and Communicating an Evidence Based Perspective May be an individual or collaborative process. Independent Project

  4. Part 1 - Initiating Inquiry Introduction to Career Connect Clusters. Explore a cluster of interest. Conduct a pre search. Identify a potential area within the cluster for further investigation. Generate “inquiry questions” to help guide their career research. What questions are important to have answered? What might the end product look like?

  5. Posing Inquiry Questions How is the cluster/career defined? What is its history? What are its major aspects or components? What other careers is it connected to? What are its important places, people, things and experts?

  6. Pre Search Gather basic information. Confirm level of interest. Record information and personal comments. Include quotes, dates, numbers, brief description of cluster/career, key aspects, personal comments etc.

  7. Part 2 - Gathering Information Where do I find reliable sources? Annotate -key information, words, concepts -record initial impressions -identify areas for further exploration -make connections to other sources Identify gaps and new investigation paths. Analyze information and draw conclusions.

  8. Research Portfolio Section 1: Holds all the work done exploring a career cluster. Section 2: Stores all the information gathered exploring a specific career. Section 3: Stores notes, personal perspectives, unanswered inquiry questions. Section 4: Discarded sources in case needed later.

  9. Part 3 - Deepening Understanding Close read resources. What are the key details? What other inquiry questions come to mind now? Am I still interested in pursuing this career?

  10. Part 4 - Finalizing Inquiry Review all information in Research Portfolio. Compile notes on chosen career pathway. Organize evidence related to career pathway. Reorganize questions. OR Are their other questions that now need to be researched? Will additional resources be needed? Integrate information across sources. Demonstrate an understanding. Prepare the end product.

  11. Part 5 – Developing and Communicating an Evidence Based Perspective Polished end product Career Connect Communication

  12. What is the End Product??? Write an article, essay, academic paper. Develop a business plan. Design and build an object. Develop a process or plan. Give a presentation. Plan a blueprint. Other???
