  2. Why Use a Token Economy? • Focus on the positive • Create a community based classroom environment • Natural system for teaching social skills/character education • It’s easy and fun!

  3. The ABC’s of Exchange • A = Appropriate behavior • B = Be consistent with delivery of tokens • C = Cash ‘em in!

  4. Simple Steps • 1. Establish what you want to use as tokens - student input • 2. Establish an exchange system • 3. Create a price for fines • 4. Establish a fine recording system

  5. Things to Keep in Mind • Make sure you get students input and buy in • Be creative with rewards/reinforcements (involve parents to contribute) • Vary intervals of exchange • Do not be afraid to be generous with tokens in the beginning • Every student should have a job/responsiblity to their community
