  1. Wayne County Sales Tax Sharing Political Action Campaign • 3% sales tax increase was approved in 1966. The county government kept 2% and the schools were allocated 1%. • The amount for schools was capped by the county supervisors at $5.4 million staring in the 1991-1992 school year. The amount is now much less than the original 1% due to increased sales tax revenues. Total sales tax collected in 2011 was $38.28 M • The $5.4 million is divided among the school districts based on student enrollment.
