  2. Stage 1-Egg The hen sits on the eggs to keep them warm.

  3. 21 days! It takes 21 days for a chick to hatch.

  4. Stage 2- Chicks start to hatch The chicks use their egg tooth to break through the eggshells.

  5. Stage 3-Chicks hatch! The chicks hatch out of their shell. This is a very hard job for such a small animal.

  6. Stage 4-AdultWe are all grown up! The chick grows up to be a rooster or a hen! A rooster is a male chicken. A hen is a female chicken.

  7. Stage 5-Hen lays eggs again! The hen will lay eggs to begin the life cycle again!
