  2. SETTING *Where: Camp Green Lake, Texas *When: Modern Day

  3. CHARACTERS *Hector (Zero): Zero was a member of tent D, he was a quiet person who barley talked. He was also the fastest hole digger in tent D. *Stanley (Caveman): Stanley was a young boy who was convicted of stealing shoes, in which you did not steal. He then went to Camp Green Lake and had to overcome many problems. *Mr. Pendanski (Mom): Mr. Pendanski was one of the counselors at Camp Green Lake and helped around the Camp.

  4. CHARACTERS *Warden: She was a the Warden at Camp Green Lake who controlled all of the Camp Area. She was one mean, older, bossy woman. *Rex (X-Ray): X-Ray was the “Leader” of tent D. All of the boys did what X-Ray said. He was intimidating to the other Boys of the Camp. *Mr. Sir: Mr. Sir was one of that employees who helped around the Camp. He is a older guy that can sometimes be harsh, that quit smoking , and instead he eats sunflower seeds now.

  5. Jail or CAMP GREEN Lake *Problem: Stanley was convicted of stealing a pair of shoes, that he really didn’t steal *Solution: The Judge and the Court let him choose between Jail or Camp Green Lake, so He picked Camp Green Lake and there he had to overcome many problems Jail Camp Green Lake

  6. Trust or Curse *Problem: Stanley’s great great-grandfather was named Elya Yelnats and he was in love with a girl named Myra Menke. The father of the girl was picking the guy who had the bigger pig to marry her, which was the boy named Igor. Elya did not have a pig so he went to the woman Madame Zeroni to see what he could do to be able to marry her. Then Madame gave him a pig and told him to take the little pig every do to the top of the hill to let him drink out the water and for you to sing to him, and then the pig will get larger. The only thing is that Elya had to take Madame up to the top of the hill in the end or else he and his whole family would be cursed. The plan worked and the pig got bigger, although the girl couldn’t make up her mind who she wanted to marry so Elya told Igor he can marry her. He was very disappointed about the whole thing and just decided to go to America, although he forgot to take Madame to the top of the hill. Once he got to America everything that he did seemed to go bad, and then he actually realized he and his family to come was going to be cursed. *Solution: Elya went to America without take Madame to the top of the hill. This made the curse come upon him and his family to come, and allowed everything to go wrong for him and his family. (Bad Luck)

  7. DUMB or Smart *Problem: Zero can not read or write all that great and he wanted to learn how to. *Solution: Zero wanted Stanley to teach him how to read and write, and Zero offered to dig some of Stanley’s hole in exchange if he would teach Zero. Zero did this so that it would be easier for Stanley to teach, and so that they would finish digging their hole at the same time so that the teaching and learning could be done before the days over.

  8. THEME *This book was about boys who may have gotten in trouble in life. They might have had a choice between jail or Camp Green Lake or might of not had an option. They picked or were forced to go to Camp Green Lake to build up their character and to become a better person than what they were.
