  1. Jehovah Jireh – The I am sees my need 8-15-10

  2. Where have we been so far? • The Lord God, the One who created me • El Elohym • The Lord God, the Most High of all • El Elyon • The Lord God – The one who I willingly serve • Adonai • The Lord God – the one who sees me • El Roi • The Lord God – the omniscient, all sufficient one • El Shaddai • The I am is my help • Jehovah Roi

  3. Jehovah Jireh – The I am sees my need Genesis 22:1-18

  4. One step at a time • God tested Abraham • James 1:2-4 • We’ll discuss testing a little more later

  5. Take your only begotten son • God immediately sets the parallel to Christ • Take your only begotten son • Take him to the land of Moriah (Jerusalem) • Isaac took and split wood (the word used for wood is the same word translators would have used for cross and tree) • On the third day, he climbed the hill • He supplied the lamb that would die in Isaac’s place

  6. Abraham’s Obedience • God said go, and Abraham rose early in the morning and went • God desires immediate, unconditional obedience • Delayed obedience requires immediate disobedience • Partial obedience is the same as complete disobedience

  7. Abrahams intention was worship • Verse 5 declares his intention pretty clearly • Notice the requirement of worship – complete obedience and submission • What submission did God require of Abraham? What did Abraham love the most?

  8. Some questions I need to wrestle with. • Do I obey without reservation when God allows me to be tested? • Do I hesitate, argue, or negotiate with God when He calls me to do something I’m not comfortable with? • What is my “Isaac”?

  9. If God asked me, how would I respond? • Do you love Me more than ________ • Are you willing to lay that “Isaac” on the alter? • Are you willing to climb that hill to worship Me? • Do you trust that I can see what you need and am able to meet that need? • Are you willing to go there with Me?

  10. God did not want Isaac’s life He wanted Abraham’s heart
