About Me • Signing since I was 10 years old • Graduated from UNF with a BAE in Special Education (Deaf Studies) in 2003 and a MED in Special Education (Deaf Education) in 2005 • Certified in Hearing Impaired K-12, ESE K-12, Elementary Ed K-6 • Entering my 9th year teaching – 5 at SJA (2005-2010), 2 in Clay County as the K-2 HI Teacher, 1 year at SJRSC, and back here at SJA!

  3. Sign Name • Does anyone have a sign name? • Only a Deaf person can give you a sign name! • Mine – a “G” handshape that “curls” down

  4. Who Are You? • What is your name? • What grade are you in? • Why do you want to take ASL? • What do you want to learn in ASL class?

Syllabus/Books • Review of syllabus – online at www.sjaweb.org • Rules and Procedures - please have the Signature Page signed and returned by Friday, Aug 23rd for a TEST grade! • Project Schedule • Books – Master ASL Level One by Jason Zinza (Red) w/DVD • Master ASL Fingerspelling, Numbers, and Glossing book (Blue)

  6. Books Books will alternate everyday unless told otherwise

  7. ASL Pre-test • 10 questions – Class Participation Only! • Show “What you know”
