Training Technology Evolution Traditional Training Two step approach • Knowledge, using chalk and talk, w/ minimal media • Skills, typically on higher end devices or the A/C Training in Virtual Environments: • Integrate knowledge and Skills throughout the curriculum greatly improving retention • Use simulated environments to transfer some of the training to easily accessible & cost effective devices • Make available anywhere/anytime

Training philosophy/methodology • The major goal of using simulation in Technical Training/Operations is to: • Improve effectiveness of training & operational environment • Generate more proficient mechanics….more quickly • Virtual Operational maintenance environment allows absorption of advanced troubleshooting skills • Simplify deployment logistics and increase throughput • Decrease training and operating costs

Simulation Based Solution • Made available because of advancements in computer & Intranet/Internet technology • Based on the same high fidelity simulation software as in full flight & maintenance simulators: • Simulation replicates the functionality of an airplane. • Based on A/C data. • All components simulated and integrated together accurately. • H/W components replaced with graphical equivalent

Practical Assessment Tool (PAT) The Practical Assessment Tool provides an environment that allows: • Instructors to set scenario’s directing student’s to locate components, • Instructor to set scenario’s that determine which components will be serviceable/unserviceable, • Users to locate aircraft system components, • Users to identify serviceable and unserviceable components or conditions, • Testing of Student’s ability to locate a component, • Testing of Student’s ability to identify unserviceable components or conditions, • Testing of Student’s ability to follow a prescribed procedure, • Tool is web enabled and communicates with an LMS such that student’s results are tracked. • Ideal for EASA/TC practical testing
