Well let this quietness not fool you. A court reporter’s job is filled with responsibility. It’s their job to provide a perfect record of the proceedings, giving that audio recordings can be hampered by errant noise or soft spoken speech

Also a court reporter must read out loud portions of what they have recorded during the proceedings, if a judge instructs them to do. • At the close of the session, it is court reporter’s responsibility to make an official transcript of the proceedings. • Compile and correlate it which would stand as the official court record. Then copies of transcripts are made for the judge and the attorneys. • Also transcripts are made for anyone who requests and then given through proper channels.

Usually freelance court reporters are hired by attorneys to record inquiries, depositions or other legal proceedings that do not take place in the courtroom. Many-a-times freelance court reporters are also hired by corporations and other private entities to record board of director meetings or stockholder minutes. Most freelance court reporters work through agencies that locate jobs for them.
