Fractional Coefficients. Objective: To solve equations and inequalities involving fractional coefficients. To solve an equation or an inequality having fractional coefficients it is helpful to multiply the equation by the LCD. Example: solve for x Multiply the equation by the LCD.

  1. Fractional Coefficients Objective: To solve equations and inequalities involving fractional coefficients.

  2. To solve an equation or an inequality having fractional coefficients it is helpful to multiply the equation by the LCD • Example: solve for x • Multiply the equation by the LCD

  3. Joe can finish the class project in 10 hours and Sam can finish the same job in 8 hours. If Joe starts at 1pm and Sam helps him 2 hours later will he have time to watch his TV show at 8 pm? • Joe can finish 1/10th of the job per hour • Sam can finish 1/8th of the job per hour but starts 2 hours later

  4. Joe’s work plus Sam’s work has to equal to 1(the whole job) Joe and Sam must finish the job in less than 7 hours. Since h is less than sevenyes, he can watch his show.
