Early Development Instrument
The Early Development Instrument (EDI) is a teacher-completed assessment tool designed to evaluate the development of children in kindergarten. Created by the Offord Centre for Child Studies, it serves as a population measure rather than an individual diagnostic tool, allowing educators and communities to understand broader developmental trends. It assesses key areas such as physical health, social competence, emotional maturity, and language cognitive development. With over 200,000 EDI assessments completed, it highlights community needs and serves as a catalyst for action to support children’s growth.
