  4. @ [ 1 Kings 18:20-39 ] The prophets of Baal cut themselves, but Baal did not answer their prayers. Why?

  6. Is 59:2 Your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.

  7. What alone brings a Holy God and sinners together in prayer? Rom 8:34 ~ Christ Jesus, who died– more than that, who was raised to life– is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us!

  8. @ Gal 3:26 You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

  9. @ 2. A privilege for God’s children... …who through faith in Jesus, have had the barrier of sin removed.

  10. Can we earn brownie points with God, to get our prayers heard?

  14. HOW SHOULD WEPRAY?

  15. Jn 15 5) I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart fomr me you can do nothing. 16) You did not choose me, but I chose you to go and bear fruit…. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.

  16. 1. In Jesus’ name (that is, trusting Him as our personal Savior).

  17. Jn 15:7 If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish and it will be given to you. Mk 14:36 [Prayer in Gethsemane] “Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”

  18. 2. According to God’s will: that is, asking that HIS WILL be done.

  19. Jesus prayed to his father: “Not my will, but your will be done!”

  21. 3. Trusting that God will hear and answer our prayer in his time and way.

  22. Rom 8:26 ~ The [Holy] Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray; but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.

  24. FOR WHAT SHOULD WEPRAY?

  25. Mt 6:33 ~ But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

  26. 1. Especially for spiritual blessings, but also for physical needs too.

  28. 2. For our needs (personal petitions)

  29. 3. For the needs of others (intercessions)

  30. WHAT SHOULD WE INCLUDE IN OURPRAYERS?

  31. What should we include…? A = Adoration C = Confession T = Thanksgiving S = Supplication

  32. Prayer Helps 1. Posture: kneeling, folded hands, bowed head can help 2. Place: being alone can be helpful; a scheduled time. 3. Content: use your own words or a prayer book; pray out loud. 4. Prayer and Bible study go together.
