  2. Session Objectives • To learn about a tool to help improve verification • To run reports and complete exercises using the ISIR Analysis Tool demo site • To learn new approaches for identifying parameters for selecting records for Federal and/or discretionary verification • To have some fun!

  5. Test Drive The ISIR Analysis Tool • What is it? • Demo site • Production site

  6. Exercise 1: Log in to FAA Access Demo System • Open Internet Explorer – select “FAFSA Demo Site” from the favorites menu, or • Type http://fafsademo.test.ed.gov in the address bar • Enter the user name (eddemo) and password (fafsatest) found in your booklet • Complete the exercise

  7. Exercise 2: Home page and Navigation • Home page features • Left navigation bar • Complete the exercise

  8. Exercise 3: Dashboard • The “Dashboard”- all systems go? • Two reports • Drilling down • Complete exercise 3

  9. Exercise 4 – Standard Reports and Filters • 8 standard reports • Filters help to focus on specific populations/criteria • Field change report – the gateway to analysis • Complete exercise 4

  12. Discussion –Exercise 5 • Should verification focus on records that experience little or no change? • How much does it cost your office to verify a student? • How many students choose to forgo financial aid when documentation is required?

  13. Things to Consider –Exercise 5 • Do you focus on records with little or no change? • To find out upload your data into the Tool and look at the Verification Summary Report • Among QA Program Schools in a recent study 52% of CPS selected records had no change to EFC

  14. Exercise 6 – Put the Pedal to the Metal • Hit the open road and test drive the tool on your own! • Read the scenario • Run reports and analyze results • Use the “clues” to stay on course
