My first brush with telecommunication dates back to my middle school days. Being a boy scout at school, I once attended a jamboree where I got to contact other boy scouts from around the world using Amateur radio (HAM radio). The piece of equipment no larger than a shoe box was a node for establishing communication with the whole world. This inspired me.
