  1. Welcome to Pokeshapes! Click on the pokeball to continue Today, I am going to teach you about the wonderful world of Pokémon and geometry

  2. Instructions This is a pokeball. You will click on the pokeball to move on to another page. This is a back button. Use it to go back a page when available These button will be throughout all the pages so do not forget their functions!

  3. Today we will learn about the space in between the lines of six different shapes. This space is called the area and is calculated differently for all shapes. These shapes are a circle, square, rectangle, triangle, parallelogram, and trapezoid. This video gives a great explanation about the area of shapes.

  4. Now choose a Pokémon to catch! There will be one shape to learn from each Pokémon. When finished, click the pokeball to continue…

  5. A wild Bulbasaur appeared! Learn the area of a circle for a chance to catch it! 2 A = πr2 r is the radius, which on the circle is the line that goes from the center, to the edge of the circle. In this case, our radius is 2 or r=2 π is a number which has a really long decimal, but we will just say it is equal to 3.14 A is the area of the circle

In our case, the top base is 2.
