  2. How to find the G.C.F Greatest common factor • Find the largest number that will divide evenly into both terms. Ex: 12 and 18 6 is the biggest number GCF = 6 that will go into both Ex: 20 and 5 5 is the biggest number GCF = 5 that will go into both Ex: 30x and 20x 10x is the biggest term GCF = 10x that will go into both Ex: 7x2 and 14x7x is the biggest term GCF = 7x that will go into both (when there is a variable, you have to go with the smallest exponent for your GCF)

  7. That is, instead of MULTIPLYING something through the parentheses, you will FACTOR by seeing what you can take back OUT of each term and put in FRONT of the PARENTHESES, such as 2x + 6 = The trick is to see what can be factored out of every term in the expression.
