What is a Community? community: • a social group of any size whose members reside in a specific locality, share government, and often have a common cultural and historical heritage. • a locality inhabited by such a group. • a social, religious, occupational, or other group sharing common characteristics or interests and perceived or perceiving itself as distinct in some respect from the larger society within which it exists (ex: the student community, the school community)

  6. A word of caution! What happens when we pursue the idea of perfection a little too far? Diversity of ideas and people is a GREAT thing!

  7. Your Challenge! • Create a poster for a positive change you would like to see in your community

  13. Your turn! • Brainstorm and come up with at least 4 different ideas or your poster

  14. Ready? Time to paint! • Sketch your favorite design on the large paper with pencil • Underpainting: Fill in large areas with color • Paint background first, then mid ground, then foreground • Add details • Refer to the poster in the classroom for a reminder of the range of painting techniques and brush stroke types available • Brushstrokes: short, long, curved, straight and dry brush • Details: sponging • Name and label your masterpiece upon completion!
