UR SmartHome Keep an eye on what is important to you... Hector Nuñez, Sina Karimi, & Ryan Campbell CMPE 490 Design Project2010w Camera The video technology is implemented through a UART interfaced camera (COMmedia ltd.) Processor stores the JPEG images into the Hard Drive storage. And the web server retrieves images when ever required. Overview UR SmartHome system is designed to create an interactive environment between the owner and home/business via a web application hosted in the system. There is two application modes available, Security Mode and User Mode. The Security Mode allows the system to record any event that occurs in the room. The User Mode allows the user to remotely control the system and monitor any components installed. Networking The Ethernet Controller (Wiznet Co.) is interfaced through the External Bus Interface. Its integrated TCP/IP stack eliminated the necessity of developing a custom software-based stack. An FTP client and an web server have been embedded in the system to host a web page accessible from anywhere in the World Wide Web. The web page allows the user to interact with the system in real time. Network Storage A network hard drive is used to store image data. The FTP client moves image data between the micro-controller to all other interfaces except for the camera. Motion Detection An infrared motion sensor is interfaced through the General Purpose Input-Output (GPIO). When motion is detected within 10 meter radius, an interrupt is triggered which causes a record mode state.
