Flowchart of Analyses used in the Water Planning Study Climate Change Models 3 sets of Projected Meteorological Data Historical Meteorological Data Historical Precipitation Data Water Use Assessment Water Conservation Assessment Water Storage Assessment Surface Water Model (DHSVM) Groundwater Model (MODFLOW) • Future Water Demands • Water conservation • Population change • 4 Different Scenarios: • 1 Historical streamflow timeseries • 3 Projected streamflow timeseries Potential new storage site(s) Well pumping scenario? ASR scenario? Existing WR Infrastructure Existing WR Operations Existing Water Demands Water Rights Water Resources Model (MODSIM) Instream Flow AWS / Q relationships • Evaluation of WR Metrics under Each Alternatives: • Deliveries (shortfall amount, duration, % of time, cost) • Reservoir volumes • Hydropower Production • Streamflows Habitat Suitability Analysis
Total Combinations of WR Runs in MODSIM • 1-2GW Alternatives: • Current Conditions • Well pumping rate alternative? • ASR alternative? • 4Streamflow: • 1 Historical • 3 Projected • 2 Infrastructure Alternatives: • Current Conditions • Water Storage Alternative • 2Water Demand Alternatives: • Current Conditions • Conservation Alternative ~32 WR Runs
Possible IFIM Species/Lifestages/Sites to Consider 74 IFIMSpecies/Lifestages/Sites 32 WR Runs 2368 Habitat Time Series Analysis Runs
Possible Alternatives for completing the Instream Flow Assessment • Normandeau uses streamflow output from MODSIM to perform habitat timeseries, provides analysis and results. Similar to original contract, analysis and results done by Normandeau. • Create tool (Excel?) that has AWS/Q relationships. Streamflow from MODSIM is input into tool to perform habitat timeseries analysis. OR, if ok with BOR, put AWS/Q relationship into MODSIM. Requires tool to be built, or AWS/Q to be put into MODSIM. Facilitates future habitat timeseries analysis. Other: Based on the number of species/lifestages selected today and available funding, incorporate MFID IFIM Locations.
