  1. Romero, B. Adeva, O. Vázquez Doce • University of Santiago de Compostela

  2. IH and SFD hits are associated to upstream tracks (MSGC) Define upstream mass for individual IH and SFD TDC hits : where Δt = corrected time-of-flight between IH or SFD and VH Pion (+ -) signal veto cuts : (around Kaon mass) Actual mass measurement : TWO METHODS HAVE BEEN USED TO ISOLATE THE K+K- SIGNAL : Prompt events with p<1.5 GeV/c • independent detectors used , very small background correlation • charge confusion is irrelevant with equal-mass pairs

  3. MAXIMUM LIKELIHOOD FIT • is + - fraction 1- is K+ K- the fraction R(x) is the squared-mass resolution function: R(x) is:  detector group dependent  approximately mass-scale independent  non-symmetric around peak value in general

  4. All upstream TDC detectors (IH and SFD) are used to measure the squared-mass

  5. Coulomb interaction of detected K+K- pairs is strong as expected Q-values calculated under K+K- hypothesis Monte Carlo Sakharov factor with correct Bohr momentum

  6. Yet another method: distinguish between positive and negative masses K+K- signal Caveat : underlying correlation due to IH slab width
