This presentation explores two significant ways scientists utilize fractal mathematics to predict natural disasters, such as tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, and earthquakes. By analyzing past events and applying fractal models, researchers can make informed predictions about future occurrences. Fractals reveal patterns in the distribution of earthquakes, allowing for better modeling of their behavior and understanding of when they might happen again. This innovative approach, combining traditional statistics with fractal analysis, enhances disaster preparedness and response.

What else do we use fractal math to predict? by: Marissa Higgins 1st hr
Two ways we use it for …… • I am going to tell you about two of the many ways we use it. Both are natural ways that scientists use predict disaster.
Natural Disasters • Scientists are now able to predict natural disasters such …… • Tornados • Hurricanes • Floods • earthquakes
Natural Disasters • By measuring past events like tornados, hurricanes, and earthquakes then apply fractal math to predict future events. • A fractal is a pattern, but put together it falls between the integers. • fractal tree
Natural Disasters • Normally using statistics to predict the future. • They are now using fractal math to predict the future natural events along with may other methods.
Distribution of earthquakes • Models of earthquakes are not always accurate. They found fractals used in this in THREE different ways…….. • 1.) Model earthquakes and their behavior. • 2.) To determine the statistics and when the earthquakes will occur again. • 3.) Lastly to be able to test and predict the earthquakes by the fractals. • This graph is called a snowflake graph
So, what else do we use fractal math to predict????? • Distribution of Earthquakes & Natural Disasters are two of the many ways we use fractals to predict. • Those are the two that I paired together. I got my pictures from Google images.
