  2. Two ways we use it for …… • I am going to tell you about two of the many ways we use it. Both are natural ways that scientists use predict disaster.

  5. Natural Disasters • By measuring past events like tornados, hurricanes, and earthquakes then apply fractal math to predict future events. • A fractal is a pattern, but put together it falls between the integers. • fractal tree

  6. Natural Disasters • Normally using statistics to predict the future. • They are now using fractal math to predict the future natural events along with may other methods.

  8. Distribution of earthquakes • Models of earthquakes are not always accurate. They found fractals used in this in THREE different ways…….. • 1.) Model earthquakes and their behavior. • 2.) To determine the statistics and when the earthquakes will occur again. • 3.) Lastly to be able to test and predict the earthquakes by the fractals. • This graph is called a snowflake graph 
