  2. Internationally Award Winners The Fringe Festival is to theatre what the Olympics is to athletics. In 2010 the CMP were one of 24 high school from the entire United States who were invited to perform at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. They performed the musical, Applause. They were one of only two high schools performing who were asked to perform in the closing ceremonies.

Auditions • We are auditioning all shows next week • Fall – Merchant of Venice • Black History Month – Portion of Civil War? • Spring – South Pacific • Prepare for auditions on Monday, August 26th!! After school in the PAC • Be sure to have your parents sign the form Prepare two MEMORIZED monologues one a Shakespearean and the other your choice.  Both monologues together must not exceed 90 seconds.  If you wish to audition for the musical or the Black History Play be prepared to sing 32 bars from a Broadway show.  You can sing a capella or bring an iphone or CD for music.

State Festival • The Louisiana State Festival for the International Thespian Society is held each year Friday and Saturdaythe last weekend of January in Natchitoches on the campus of Northwestern State University.  • On both days the festival had workshops for everyone. There were individual events competitions; college scholarship auditions; and a dance. 75 students from Magnet attended State last year! There were almost 1000 thespians from all over Louisiana representing 25 troupes. These three students earned a Superior Score on their pieces which allowed them to compete at Nationals Sarah Vallacchi Austin Farrow Nia Savoy

State Accomplishments • Ridley Walker appointed Co-Chair for 2013/14 State BoardOnly 6 students are chosen from the schools represented • ITS College Scholarship • Wallace Rakoczywon the top ITS scholarship (she can take this to any college in the nation) • There were 43 competing for the ITS scholarships and there are only three given money.  • Individual Events • Nia Savoy earned Superior for Solo Musical and placed in Top Three of StateSarah Vallacchi earned Superior for Monologue and placed in Top Three of StateAustin Farrow earned Superior for MonologueAll those who earned Superior will compete at Nationals! • This is the first year we have had TWO of the top three! • College Scholarship Offers (for Seniors Only) • Wallace Rakoczywas offered $2200 per year for 4 years by NSUMatt Torma was offered $2000 per year for 4 years by NSURyaneLucius was offered $1000 per year for 4 years by NSUThe students in Group Musical were asked to perform their number at lunch.We performed a segment of Enter Laughing for ShowcaseAllison Hannon and Ridley Walker tied for first place in Tech Challenge(a timed obstacle course for techies including: climbing a ladder to change angle; screwing together a flat; focusing a light on a particular spot; fast change costume with wig and moving furniture to spiked positions)

Accomplishments • Average callback at Nationals is three. • Our students received anywhere from five to twenty-eight interviews, setting the stage for them to be accepted in music, theater, acting, and technical programs throughout the country. • The schools interviewing Magnet students included: • Columbia, Drake, University of Evansville, LSU, Lindenwood, University of Houston, Loyola, OU, University of Northern Iowa, St Mary's, Rowan, TCU, St. Louis University, Ohio Northern, Viterbo, Rockford, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, De Paul, University of North Carolina, Santa Fe, Shorter, University of Illinois, Utah State, William Jewel University, University of South Dakota, Theatre of the Arts, Fairleigh Dickenson, University of Ohio, Marquette, KD Conservatory, Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, Miami University, Ohio Northern, SCAD, AMDA, Cap 21, NYCDA , Gustavo's, New School for Drama, University of the Arts, Missouri Valley, ADDA, Rockford, Utah State, and Atlantic School.

  27. We don’t get any money to do all of this cool stuff! Biggest way to raise money is our parent support. Caddo Magnet Players Support Plan Producer - $500 or more Director - $250 - $499 Stage Manager - $150 - $249 Crew Head - $100 - $149 House Manager - $50 - $99 Usher - $25 - $49 .

  28. Fees are confusing • Class Fees – taken up in classes to cover cost of class stuff such as copies, extra books and to help defer the cost of productions. • Drama Club Fees – to be a member of Drama Club – covers yearbook picture page and PTSA calendar pictures • Parent Guild Fees – To help the Guild help the department • ITS Induction Fee – Once in a LIFETIME - $22
