  13. Benchmarking • Key goal: avoid re-invention • To answer the questions ‘How am I doing’ & ‘How might I improve’ • Needs derivation of acceptable benchmarks that are sensitive to organisation size, type, funding, history • ‘Do unto yourself before others do it to you’

Future steps • Need sponsorship - source? • Establish HIS Review & Benchmarking Service • Create quality assurance framework for HI • Develop training for peer reviewers • Lead on CPD for IT & IM • Develop Practitioners Guides (eg ITIL) • Other products? • Income generation to aid professional development
